You don’t always have to “Take a Leap of Faith”
Give yourself permission to grow at the pace of safety.
Growth isn’t always about leaping, it’s often about learning when to take a step, and when to stay rooted. There’s a difference between discomfort that stretches us and danger that shuts us down.
Too often, we hear messages that glorify risk: "Just do it!" "Leap and the net will appear!", but sustainable growth asks a different question:
Is it safe enough to try something new, even if it’s uncomfortable?
Safety doesn’t mean never taking risks. It means honoring your nervous system’s signals and checking in with your capacity, your support system, and your ‘why’ BEFORE pushing forward. The challenge is that growth rooted in safety might move slowly, but it’s more likely to last. Not only that, it won’t require abandoning yourself along the way AND you will feel less pressured and overwhelmed doing it (BONUS!)
Here are a few ways to discern the difference between discomfort and danger:
Discomfort says: “This feels unfamiliar or challenging.”
Danger says: “This is overwhelming. I feel frozen, numb, or panicked.”
Discomfort stretches your edges.
Danger makes you feel like you’re disappearing.
Before choosing a direction, ask yourself:
Is this challenge aligned with the future I want to create?
Do I have the resources and support I need to meet this moment?
Am I overriding my inner voice or is it nudging me to trust myself?
Sometimes courage looks like trying. Other times, it looks like pausing, recalibrating, or saying not yet.
There’s no race. You don’t have to shatter every limitation in one breath.
You’re allowed to grow at the pace of safety, and stretch when the roots feel strong.
